Tattoo Care With Eco Cosmetics

I am quite lazy when it comes to my tattoos. When I have any work done I take care of it really well and they always heal quickly. However, after the healing process I neglect them quite a bit. I don't moisturise them never mind using an SPF. I think half of the problem is that they just become a part of you, I wouldn't say I forget about them but I definitely don't think about moisturising them.

I have seen quite a lot of tattoo care ranges, however I am always a bit dubious about buying them. When you look at the ingredients they are usually just a tube of chemical gunk, so I am always put off buying them.

Eco-Cosmetics recently approached me after talking about some of my tattoos, in particular my sleeve. Based on wildlife in the UK, it's made up of a fox, hare, badger and a stag. The work was completed by artist Manu Racoon done in his neo-traditional style. Anyway, back to Eco-Cosmetics, they kindly sent me their tattoo care range. There are three products in the range, Eco SPF Sun Lotion, Eco Body Lotion and an Eco Shower Gel.

Out of the three products the Eco Tattoo Body Lotion is the one appealed to me the most. During the winter I find my skin a bit dryer than normal. It is a light cream and soaks into the skin well, which is one of the more important factors for me. I hate putting clothing over layer of moisturiser that hasn't yet soaked in.

The Eco Tattoo Shower Gel contains Noni and Pomegranate, which is gentle on the skin and helps care for your tattoo. I have been using it non stop since receiving it and it's a nice product.

The Eco Tattoo Sun Lotion SPF 30 is probably one I will use the least at the minute due to the winter months. It provides high protection for your skin and is water resistant. As well as protecting yourself it is also coral reef friendly, so when you go for a swim at the beach it doesn't kill off anything in the sea with nasty chemicals. It is quite a thick lotion and slightly fades your tattoo until fully soaked in, however this is a product to protect your tattoo not make it vibrant.

These products felt great on the skin and in no way felt harsh. They left the skin feeling and looking healthy. A good range of products for those looking to protect tattooed skin and keep it looking great.

Have you got any tips on tattoo care? I would love to hear them, comment below!

Make Or Break An Outfit With BodyBranded.Com

You can spend hours putting together the perfect outfit, it could be for a night out, job interview or even for a casual Sunday shop. It would be choosing a top, something that goes for the bottom and maybe footwear and accessories. Many people forget about one garment that can make or break an outfit, I am talking about socks.

It sounds really trivial and I bet many people will read up to this point thinking, how can socks break an outfit? I see people at work wearing a nice three piece suit and a nice pair of shoes, but then they've got white sports socks on! Swap the sports socks for a nice smart pair of patterned or coloured socks and make the outfit.

The team at BodyBranded.Com kindly sent me some Ben Sherman socks to put to the test. I have bought Ben Sherman boxer shorts in the past but never socks. I always buy the huge multi-packs from the cheaper shops. After trying out these socks out for a few days I wont be going back to the cheap ones. They are really soft and breathable which makes them super comfortable, not only that they look great too. The muted grey socks look great with a smart outfit and the more colourful ones brighten up anything casual. But that's not to say you cant choose a bold sock to pair with a suit, in some occasions it can work.

Is there anything else that's isn't a major about an outfit that you think can make or break it? I would love to know! Leave a comment below.

Music And Merch With EMP

Music played a huge part in my teen life and if it was on the heavier side chances are I would like it. I used to wake up to music every morning to some kind of nu-metal or metalcore (or whatever you want to call it), which would blast out of my cd player.

Getting dressed to my chosen playlist, I would try and wear as much band merch as possible. I probably looked ridiculous. Some days it would be a band t-shirt and hoody, but other days it would be a long sleeve band t-shirt with a short sleeved band t-shirt over the top, a hoody, a straight peak and always tons of patches on my backpack! I was basically a walking billboard.

On the way to sixth form/work, I would always break out my trusty Sony Mini Disc player. The good old times, where you used to sit and listen to each track one by one as it recorded onto the next days mini disc.

Music still plays a big part in my life today and I try to break out my guitar or play my drums when I have the time. I still listen to some of the same bands that I listened to through my teens, they have just evolved along the way and I listen to a lot of newer bands, who produce a simliar genre of music.

 Bring Me The Horizon

These guys are a 5 piece band which originated in Sheffield. They received a lot of hate in the early years, but they have gone strength to strength and produced some epic albums. There most recent studio album to be released is That's The Spirit.

A Day To Remember

ADTR are a Florida based band, their first studio album was released in 2005. They are known for songs like 'All I Want' and 'Downfall Of Us All'. They are still going strong today with their latest release Bad Vibrations (2016), I finally purchased the vinyl edition of this at the start of the year.

While She Sleeps

Many will know these guys from their latest album release - You Are We. It features songs such as Silence Speaks (Feat. Oliver Sykes BMTH). They started way back in 2006 and they are another amazing band to come out of Sheffield. You Are We is one of my most listened to albums from the past few months.

 Architects

Starting in Brighton this 5 piece band have come a long way, they are now getting the recognition they deserve. They have had some absolute classic singles like 'Alpha Omega' and their latest studio album All Gods Have Abandoned Us is an absolute must buy if you like this genre of music.

 Enter Shikari

A lot of people have mixed feelings for these guys, I personally love the music they produce. They released their first studio album in 2006 Take To The Skies, known for tracks such as 'Sorry, You're Not A Winner' and 'Mothership'. With each album the band has grown and their latest release The Spark is a great album.

If you haven't heard of some of these bands then check them out, I know many people out there won't like some of the music I listen to but you never know!

Gaming Night With Hofmeister Beer

After a long week at work some down time is always nice. Whether it comes in the form of a bubble bath :D or a gaming night (where you openly talk rubbish with your mates and poorly attempt to save the world from a pandemic), it's a great start to the weekend.

I haven't gamed much since Jacob was born, but now that our little man is in a good routine I have really got back into it. I have met some great friends through blogging, who have an interest in gaming and we have started streaming on a weekly basis or when we can. We always have a laugh and drink some beers. Shout out to my brothers in arms Carl (A Bloke's Eye View), Alfie (Alfie B Smith) and Mark (The Honest Father).

The team over at Hofmeister were kind enough to send us all some beers, glasses and merch. Hofmeister dissapeared for a while but recently came back rebranded in 2016. Impressively, it then went on to win the best lager award at the IWSC in 2017.

I usually stay away from lager as more often than not I don't like the taste and find it far too carbonated. I usually stick to pale ales with the odd sour here and there. Since discovering real ales I have become abit of a drinks snob. However, Hofmeister is gently carbonated, so it's not full of air and it has a great fresh citrus taste. I could easily drink this all night and is definitely a drink I'll be getting in again. Thanks Hofmeister!

Have you tried Hofmeister? I would love to know your thoughts, Comment Below!

The Right Tools For The Job

It is too easy to get caught up in offers these days, it's either a bundle offer, sale price or a freebie. I can't help but feel the last time I was drawn in by a freebie I should have thought twice.

I was sucked into this when I renewed a phone contract and in return I was sent a free gift - Samsung Galaxy Camera GCK-100. When I first got the camera I was amazed by it's quality. It was Android based so you could post straight to social media and it offered some amazing features, which I had never had on a compact camera before. However, I feel that it had almost too much functionality. It just began to crash, not take photos and was generally quite slow.

As well as this, there was so many reasons to get a new camera. My partner launched her new business (The Natural Mama Company), I wanted to start blogging again and the biggest reason - To get some awesome snaps of our little man as he grows up. I have to capture all of the embarrassing stuff he does in high def to show him when he's older! (Evil dad laugh)

There are so many cameras to choose from and I was slightly intimidated about buying a DSLR as I really have no clue when it comes to all the settings, lens etc. However after speaking with some camera buffs and the guys at Jessops I decided to go for the Canon EOS 1300D.

I have been playing around with the Canon non stop since it arrived and I have been taking the most random photos to get to grip with all of the settings. I am usually the type of person that just uses the Automatic function on a camera, but after getting the Canon I thought I should actually learn how to use it! Luckily this guide on a blog by a fellow blogger - Mark (Honest Father) has enough information on it to get you going without overloading you. It's not too technical if you are an amateur like myself and it gives you a great introduction into the DSLR settings.

The Canon EOS 1300d has a ton of amazing features, many of them I still need to actually understand what they do. I won't bore you with tech spec, if you want to know more about them you can find them here. I personally like how easy it is to use, it's not too chunky and it's reasonably priced. Just to show you how easy this camera is to use along side a great guide, I have taken some snaps to show you. Don't judge me, I'm not quite a pro yet!

I will definitely think twice before rushing to purchase and not just buy something because I think it's a great deal. Just by doing that little bit of research beforehand
will make sure you are buying the right tool for the job and probably save you money in the long run!

Thanks for reading and if you have any guides for DLSR beginners let me know with a comment and a link below!

Confidence Comes With A Cut

As you have probably guessed by the title of this blog it's about self image and confidence. I think we all have those little things in life that make us feel better about ourselves. Whether it be a new outfit or a session down the gym, these little things can make you feel so much better about yourself.

I was recently invited to a blogger event hosted by Just For Men in London by a good friend Carl. When it comes to events like this I all of a sudden get weight conscious and my confidence drops. (Before anyone says - well just lose weight, I am already on with that but that's for another blog!) The event was in celebration of the JFM and NFL partnership. There were beers, burgers a got special order Fillet-Om-Phish from Mooshies with a side of Cheezy Sweet Potato Fries!

The event was held at The Normad Barber LDN, which I have wanted to visit for quite a while. The cuts are spot on and you can tell they have a passion for their work. As a nice little bonus at the event we were all booked in for a complimentary cut. I went for a high and tight skin fade with a slight disconnection, a little off the top and a beard trim (Big thanks to Ryan James).

As daft as it sounds I am a more confident person after a haircut. I wouldn't say I have no confidence, but I personally feel so much better and not to mention cleaner after a fresh cut! I went to this event feeling a bit self conscious, but after the cut I even jumped in a few photos whilst Carl and Alfie were getting some snaps around Brick Lane.

I would love to know what little things in life make you feel more confident? Let me know below.

A New Beginning

In a Yorkshire hospital on August 15th 2016 our son Jacob Xander was born. Been a new/first time dad, I didn’t want to miss anything. I also wanted to be there as much as possible for my partner Lauren, so I decided to retire my blog. I know blogging only needs to take up as much time as you put into it, but it was nice not to have to worry about it.

To be totally honest, at the time and up until recently I haven’t really missed my blog. It was only recently when I caught up with some friends, When I decided to put a plan together to get my blog up and running again. I admit, it’s taken a while since the post announcing I was going to be launching my blog, but here it is!

So what should you be expecting to read on this blog? The blog will follow me on my… wait for it… “Life journey”. It will be an honest and open view on whatever it is I am writing about at the time! Expect to read content about anything and everything I am interested in, so expect there to be a mix of posts!

Make sure you check in regularly for new content. I hope you enjoy reading my future posts and I look foward to reading your comments!
