Getting dressed to my chosen playlist, I would try and wear as much band merch as possible. I probably looked ridiculous. Some days it would be a band t-shirt and hoody, but other days it would be a long sleeve band t-shirt with a short sleeved band t-shirt over the top, a hoody, a straight peak and always tons of patches on my backpack! I was basically a walking billboard.
On the way to sixth form/work, I would always break out my trusty Sony Mini Disc player. The good old times, where you used to sit and listen to each track one by one as it recorded onto the next days mini disc.
Music still plays a big part in my life today and I try to break out my guitar or play my drums when I have the time. I still listen to some of the same bands that I listened to through my teens, they have just evolved along the way and I listen to a lot of newer bands, who produce a simliar genre of music.
Bring Me The Horizon
These guys are a 5 piece band which originated in Sheffield. They received a lot of hate in the early years, but they have gone strength to strength and produced some epic albums. There most recent studio album to be released is That's The Spirit.
A Day To Remember
ADTR are a Florida based band, their first studio album was released in 2005. They are known for songs like 'All I Want' and 'Downfall Of Us All'. They are still going strong today with their latest release Bad Vibrations (2016), I finally purchased the vinyl edition of this at the start of the year.
While She Sleeps
Many will know these guys from their latest album release - You Are We. It features songs such as Silence Speaks (Feat. Oliver Sykes BMTH). They started way back in 2006 and they are another amazing band to come out of Sheffield. You Are We is one of my most listened to albums from the past few months.
Architects
Starting in Brighton this 5 piece band have come a long way, they are now getting the recognition they deserve. They have had some absolute classic singles like 'Alpha Omega' and their latest studio album All Gods Have Abandoned Us is an absolute must buy if you like this genre of music.
Enter Shikari
A lot of people have mixed feelings for these guys, I personally love the music they produce. They released their first studio album in 2006 Take To The Skies, known for tracks such as 'Sorry, You're Not A Winner' and 'Mothership'. With each album the band has grown and their latest release The Spark is a great album.
If you haven't heard of some of these bands then check them out, I know many people out there won't like some of the music I listen to but you never know!
